Material Tests
Temperature Cycling Test
Is the process of cycling through two temperature extremes, typically at relatively high rates of change. It is an environmental stress test used in evaluating product reliability as well as in manufacturing to catch early-term, latent defects by inducing failure through thermal fatigue. We have a number of chambers available with our group that offer different size work spaces, ramp rates and control ranges. -70°C – 180°C temperature range.

Thermal Shock Testing
The ability to withstand sudden changes in temperature is a key attribute for products and components that are subject to harsh environmental conditions or used in other rugged applications. Test items undergo air-to-air thermal shock testing where the test product moves from one extreme atmospheric temperature to another via mechanical means. We have a number of vertical two zone thermal shock chambers where an elevator moves small to medium sized parts almost instantaneously from one extreme to the other. The fully enclosed thermal shock test chambers avoid unintended exposure to ambient temperature and help prevent the hazards of handling. Therefore subjecting the test pieces to instantaneous extreme temperatures. -70 to 170°C.

Temperature and Humidy Tests
Testing determines how components, subsystems and complete systems behave in severe environments that involve elevated temperatures and high or fluctuating relative humidity. The tests can be static with constant temperature and humidity, they can involve the cycling of both or they can be temperature-humidity bias tests (where the moisture is used to induce a failure in an electrical device) or some combination of all of these. This is particularly useful for testing products which will be used in a different country to that where it was manufactured or for evaluating how product will deteriorate in certain environments. -70°C – 180°C temperature 5 - 95% Rh humidity.

Salt Spray Test
Sometimes this test is referred to as salt mist or fog test. A salt spray test is a corrosion testing method that uses high-saline environments at a controlled temperature to measure the corrosion resistance of products, paints and coatings over extended periods.
A salt spray test is conducted in a closed chamber that can be adjusted to create a variety of corrosive environments. During testing, samples are subjected to a specified salt concentration for a pre-determined amount of time, based on specification, product type, or industry standards.

Material Testing Services
Is the measurement of the characteristics and behaviour of such substances as metals, ceramics, or plastics under various conditions. The data obtained can be used in specifying the suitability of materials for various applications e.g., building or aircraft construction, machinery, or packaging. This can be carried out at one of our test facilities located around the UK or utilising one of our hire chambers if you require a more local resource (subject to availability).

Group Services
As a specialists in environmental and material testing we can provide the following
services to our customers:
